Cross Training

It's not really cross training, as it is training for cyclocross. I took my 'cross bike out this afternoon for an easy spin to flush the legs out after the weekend's abuse. After a spin around the park, I put the bike on my shoulder and ran home.

It was a good workout, and gives the neighbors something to talk about!

That's hilarious! You thinking a top tube pad by the time you got home?

Actually, my tricross has a unique top tube shape that makes it pretty easy to shoulder. It's flat on the bottom at the point where the top tube rest on the shoulder. What was anoying was the tip of my seat banging against my helmet.

What's the deal with top tube pads and fixies anyway? I saw an NYC guy's fixie blog, and all the fixies had TT pads???

What about running in cycling shoes?

Christy -

I woudn't want to do a marathon in them, but they were OK for the 1/2 mile that I did. If I were going to run any further I'd switch.

For that matter, If I were going to run any further, I'd leave the bike at home!

Varnum, Did you crash today? Hope not! Hoping to go out Saturday, see blog that you inspired for the 411. Later! Travel Gravel!

Style maybe? I'd hate to think that those "cool" skilled big city daredevils were worried about a bit of a bump in a panic dismount.

Frame pad to protect your paint from nicks and dings common from bikes sliding when parked and/or shackled to lamp posts, parking meters, ect.

Also makes traditional small tube steel frames much nicer to shoulder when hauling the bike up stairs.

And they're pretty.
